Why I Show Up

I started McMillan Emergency Response with one simple goal: show up when no one else can.

This isn’t a big company with a boardroom. It’s me—ropes packed, harness on, ready to go when the call comes in. I’ve spent the last decade in the dirt, from slope failures along the rails to storm cleanup in remote canyons. I’ve worked on cliffs, under helicopters, through rockslides and shutdowns. And every time, one thing stayed the same: the people calling weren’t looking for a quote—they were looking for help.

Why I Do This

Because I’ve been there when the hillside starts moving and the road has to stay open. I’ve seen jobs grind to a halt because no one could reach the hazard zone. I’ve had homeowners, superintendents, and inspectors all standing there asking, “What now?”

I wanted to be the answer to that question.

McMillan Emergency Response isn’t just a service—it’s a commitment. When the ground gives way, I bring experience, grit, and the gear to make things safe again. I handle rockfall mitigation, slope stabilization, rope-access inspections, and post-disaster cleanup. I do it for GCs, homeowners, cities, and private clients. And I do it with the urgency the job demands.

What You’re Getting

When you call me, you’re not getting a middleman or waiting on approvals. You’re getting a trained, certified, and insured professional who can assess the risk, set anchors, and get hands-on fast. I’ve got a rope rescue background, heavy civil experience, and the scars to prove I’ve been in the field—not just reading about it.

What’s Next

This blog will be my way of sharing what goes on behind the scenes—lessons from the field, tools I trust, crazy calls I’ve answered, and how I approach each job with precision and purpose.

If you're dealing with unstable terrain, or just want to understand this line of work better, stick around.

And if you're staring up at a rockface wondering what to do next—call me.
